The Model 1088 bass trumpet features a 7" diameter one piece yellow brass bell appropriately matched with a .485" bore. Designed by Zig Kanstul and tested by first-call studio players Alan Kaplan and Charlie Loper. A bold, brassy sound and excellent intonation make the Model 1088 perfect for both jazz and symphonic use. The mouthpipe is removable and optional pipes will offer different playing characteristics.
The Model 1088 is played by Brian Davis, principal euphoniumist of the Dallas Wind Symphony (and long-time utility for DSO), and is used at The Colburn School in Los Angeles.
It looks terrific, sounds amazing, and feels great! The tone is rich & full throughout all registers, and the intonation is superb. I can slam into the upper register with ease, or play delicately with a brilliant tone, and little kickback. Pedal tones are *$@%ing FAT!!! Look out!!! I may be able to give some smaller tenor bones a surprise there! The finish is beautiful, and has lots of character, while the horn's dimensions and weight remind me of a fine wrist watch with some beef behind it - I love it!
